Value investment dining table from a large 47,000 year old swamp root

I made this extraordinary designer dining table with a 3.30 x 1.20 m large and 12 cm thick table top to measure for a customer in Luxembourg. As a special feature, the solid table top consists of a huge root that has grown in one piece. Only the valuable wood of the unique Kauri trees from New Zealand, which have been lying in the swamp for thousands of years, is available worldwide for such precious individual pieces.

Special features of this original table top are the original Kauri amber and individual root strands that protrude from parts of the bark into naturally grown openings. To preserve these unique natural features, I filled the opening with high-quality epoxy resin. In this arrangement, the giant old Kauri tree was probably nourished by the small root branches during its lifetime 47,000 years ago.

At the request of the customer in Luxembourg, I filled the root end with epoxy resin so that this area could also be used as a dining table without any problems. The transparent to crystal-clear epoxy resin preserves the beautiful root character with its fascinating grain.

In the upper part of the epoxy resin filling is preserved native amber from this root. The natural resin of the Kauri tree solidifies over thousands of years to golden amber. During the processing I attach great importance to the fact that these relics of the past are preserved and remain visible through the epoxy resin. The original amber further enhances the dining table and will forever be an eye-catcher.
Due to the age of the Kauri wood and the natural hardening of the initially liquid tree resin to amber, no other wood offers the possibility of designing tables with these precious treasures of the past in this way.
Tables with a high epoxy resin content are also called epoxy resin tables.

A majestic designer dining table with a valuable table top that is incomparable. The unique grain of the Kauri burl wood with its unadulterated natural characteristics, grown in one piece in this size, make this dining table a truly unique piece with lasting value. Each Kauri wood table is given its own unique number.

The durability of my high-quality handmade Kauri wood tables speak for a long value retention and thus become valuable heirlooms. The thick solid table tops can be expertly restored if necessary to put these unique pieces back in mint condition, this also speaks for a long usability of the wooden table.

This is what the table top of the designer dining table looked like before processing as an unprocessed blank shortly before drying to 8% wood moisture. This measure is very important to minimize the likelihood of cracks appearing in the large solid table top or it warping later on at the customer's premises. Only then do I start with the craftsmanship.
I process each tabletop to a high standard of quality. The Luxembourg customer can look forward to a very durable and moisture-resistant surface. So he will enjoy a special one-of-a-kind piece for a long time.

Generally I manufacture tables from the special Kauri wood for customers from the German-speaking countries, Luxembourg and also worldwide. To save a long journey, I offer for you as an interested party from Luxembourg and southern Germany to visit me in my showroom near Bernkastel-Kues on the Mosel. The distance Luxembourg - Bernkastel is about 95 KM. Here I will be happy to show you the peculiarities of the Kauri wood by means of unique patterns table tops from the trunk and from the root.
