A unique, one-of-a-kind piece with a sculptural presence
This unique solid wood table is crafted from a single piece of fascinating kauri burl wood that includes a section of the tree trunk. The tabletop measures 230 × 105 cm and was made as a display piece for the exhibition. The photos from the workshop show the table immediately after completion and highlight the material’s distinctive character.
The unique Kauri burl wood truly shines here: embedded bark and natural golden amber are permanently visible within the crystal-clear epoxy resin. This creates a natural detail that wasn’t added for decorative purposes, but is an integral part of the wood itself. This makes this solid wood table a one-of-a-kind piece with character. Multiple visible layers of amber, bark, and resin give the surface a three-dimensional depth.
The tabletop is carved from a single piece of natural kauri root that includes a section of the tree trunk. Rustic root branches protrude visibly from the solid wood, preserved as a direct expression of the material. The unique grain and warm color give the table an appearance that is more reminiscent of a natural object than of ordinary furniture.
Polishing the epoxy resin makes the amber and bark clearly visible. This creates a three-dimensional effect in the unique tabletop: the eye is drawn not only to the surface but also seems to penetrate into the material itself. This effect clearly sets the real wood table apart from classic solid wood tables and is virtually impossible to achieve with other types of wood.

The table, bearing the unique number 171, is crafted from wood that is approximately 3,700 years old and has been meticulously finished in my workshop. The moisture-resistant finish protects the tabletop, giving it an elegant look while making it suitable for everyday use. As a result, this exquisite solid wood table can also be used regularly as a sturdy dining table.
