One-of-a-kind, custom-designed furniture pieces crafted from exceptional kauri burl wood

This set—consisting of a table, a bench, and two stools—was crafted from a rare subfossil kauri root. The customer personally selected the raw pieces at my workshop. Intergrown sections, cracks, areas of bark, amber, and irregular, artistic growth patterns characterize the unique solid wood used in this handcrafted designer furniture.
Nature sets the tone for the design language. Through my creative work, this translates into individual, one-of-a-kind works of art and designer furniture that take on a clean, modern form.

I used high-quality epoxy resin to stabilize open areas, porous bark, and embedded amber. This allows me to creatively incorporate the fascinating grain of the kauri root wood into the design. With these designer pieces, I was also able to precisely tailor the external dimensions to the customer’s specifications. The golden amber inclusions add distinctive natural accents. In this way, the original material structure blends with modern design.

The clean, rectangular shapes of the tables create a deliberate contrast to the ornate burl wood. Modern glass legs lend the design a sense of visual lightness and harmonize perfectly with the transparent epoxy resin.
