Epoxy resin coffee table with kauri root wood

I made this unusual epoxy resin table according to the customer's wishes, which now serves as a coffee table. I cast individual pieces of root wood from prehistoric Kauri wood in high-quality epoxy resin.
The individual solid root wood pieces look as if they are floating in the epoxy resin. There are virtually no limits to creativity with epoxy resins and the result is a unique table.
The modern stainless steel table frame was also made to match the table top.

We first defined the basic oval shape of the special table top together, whereby I worked the edges slightly organically. We then selected the original burl wood for this epoxy resin table, which I then adapted to the basic shape. I left the edges of the wood as they had grown or shaped them organically so that they looked as if they had grown naturally.

We decided not to make the epoxy resin crystal clear, but rather a subtle milky color so that the coffee table would not appear too artificial. The table frame should not be directly visible through the epoxy resin, which would be the case with a clear finish. In this way, the kauri root wood contained in the epoxy resin is the first eye-catcher and emphasizes it.
