Original gold coloured amber in epoxy resin in the Kauri dining table
ContactThis designer dining table table top made from old Kauri root wood is a unique natural work of art. In addition to the fascinating natural characteristics, the special feature of this luxury dining table is the abundance of natural tree resin from the Kauri tree, which grew 3700 years ago and has formed into beautiful amber over the millennia, giving the table a luxurious appearance. Cast in transparent epoxy resin and thus immortalized, it now remains permanently visible and contributes to the value of the wooden table.
The amber can be seen in numerous places at the transition from the Kauri tree to the bark here in the tabletop, just as you can often see when walking in the forest, where trees resinify on the outside, or where the tree begins to resinify in damaged areas to protect itself. This also happened at the time when this tabletop was still a tree. The fresh resin stuck to the bark and solidified into amber.
The resin is also known in our native woods such as pine or larch. If you are a DIY enthusiast working with these woods, you may also see the honey-colored sticky resin galls.
Section of the table top made of Kauri wood with ingrown tree resin, which has solidified into amber over thousands of years. To permanently seal the gold-colored amber, I cast it in epoxy resin and it will be a special and lasting eye-catcher for the customer in his designer dining table.
The Kauri table top as a whole shows the beautiful burl wood of the luxury dining table. The grain grows in all directions and thus contributes to the special natural characteristics in combination with the bark parts cast in epoxy resin.
Here too, the epoxy resin helps to strengthen the Kauri bark and makes the dining table inimitable. The ingrown gold-colored amber can be seen very nicely.
The table top during processing as an unprocessed blank. After I have dried the Kauri wood down to approx. 7-8% moisture content, I start working on it. The table top of the dining table now has its final shape, so there is the least chance that the large solid top will change later on at the customer. This is an important prerequisite for the customer to be able to enjoy an exceptional and luxurious unique piece for a long time.
I close the large naturally grown openings by hand with pieces of bark according to the customer's wishes from the same root trunk.
Each Kauri wood table I produce in my manufactory according to the wishes and agreement of the customer, handmade in Germany. So he gets his personal and unique unicum with long value retention. More information about Kauri dining tables here.
