This elegant dining table leaves a lasting impression—and not just on wine lovers—thanks to the rich variety of colors from the old red wine barrels. Over time, the red wine leaves residues in each stave, staining them a warm reddish-black hue. I assemble individual staves from decommissioned red wine barrels into a tabletop, creating a truly unique piece.
Signs of wear from their previous life as wine barrels harmonize perfectly with the vibrant and extraordinary character of the old red wine barrel staves, which still bear the marks of their past. Old, disused barrels are given a new lease on life, now providing further enjoyment in the form of a unique solid-wood table that you’ll get a lot of pleasure from and that contributes to a sustainable and resource-conserving lifestyle.

First, I take the old barrels apart into individual staves. It’s important to dry them gently to about 7% wood moisture content so that the wooden table will retain its shape later and no cracks will form. Now the labor-intensive work begins: I cut as many straight pieces as possible from each individual stave. This is complicated because the staves are heavily curved. But it is precisely this that creates the beautiful variety of colors in each individual stave, which later gives the finished wine table its fascinating character.
Now I put each stave together in length and width until your desired table size is reached. With a special surface treatment, the old oak wood in the wine table shines in a special brilliance and receives excellent protection and longevity:
Dining tables are generally subjected to particularly harsh conditions. To protect the beautiful surface of this special solid wood table for a long time, I use a special process to harden the top layer of the wood, making it more scratch-resistant. At the same time, the tabletop becomes resistant to alcohol and liquids without losing the natural look and silky-smooth feel of the wine table. The result is a very high-quality table that is ideally suited even for a demanding dining table in daily use.

After the red wine barrels have been dismantled, the inside of the barrel staves become visible, showing the typical reddish colouring of the red wine and penetrating deep into the oak wood, responsible for a warm hue on the surface of the tabletop.
