Large wooden table with a natural table top made from a 3700-year-old root measuring 280 x 110 x 9 cm. I filled loose pieces of bark and naturally grown openings with a high-quality epoxy resin.
The natural table top is interspersed with many small cracks and ramifications of the root. I left the natural edges as they grew and sanded them to give them a soft feel. The fascinating root growth gives the wooden table its unique character.
At the customer's request, I filled the large naturally grown opening in the table top with epoxy resin. The otherwise porous burl wood now forms a solid and compact unit with an artistic expression and the table can be used for all applications, such as a busy dining table, without any problems.
In other cases, I close large openings with bark, amber and solid root wood from the same tree trunk cast in epoxy resin so that the table tops look as if they have grown naturally.
A modern black lacquered table frame contributes to the overall aesthetic appearance of the table.
The unprocessed blank after drying to living room level. Only then do I start the professional processing so that the customer's table top does not change and they can enjoy their wooden table for a long time.
