Material asset furniture, from limited kauri swamp wood

Up to 100,000 years ago, huge kauri trees in New Zealand's north collapsed in the swamps due to natural disasters of that time and remained perfectly preserved by oxygen deprivation until the present day. The imposing trees lie there partly in several layers on top of each other. The deeper the trees lie, the older they are.

From this beautiful raw material, I now make special furniture and limited edition pieces in the form of unique wooden tables, easy-care dining tables and imposing conference tables. The still living Kauri trees may not be felled and are under nature protection. The export of the thousand-year-old swamp woods has also declined rapidly in recent years and is monitored by the New Zealand government. Imports into the European Union and Germany are also strictly monitored by the local governments and are subject to strict controls. With elaborate bureaucracy, I myself witnessed the last import of Kauri raw material and was not sure until the end whether I could keep and process the goods.

By these points it is understood that the kauri wood is limited and probably soon no furniture and designer wooden tables can be made from it. Thus, it can be said today that Kauri furniture and tables as an asset will be treated as antique furniture today and will increase in value in the future.

Kauri furniture with special quality

Unique natural features characterize especially the root wood and thus offer perfect characteristics of a unique designer table. As seen in this picture, it is the gold-colored naturally ingrown amber of the kauri tree that has connected to the root during his lifetime. Cast in high quality epoxy resin, it remains visible forever and is a special eye-catcher.

The processing is done by me very carefully and mainly by hand. I achieve a high quality in various steps:

• with a first natural and then artificial drying of the table tops to 7 - 8 % wood moisture before starting work. This allows me to correct cracks and warping of the tabletop and will most likely not occur later at the customer so that complaints are excluded.
• the mostly abundant fascinating natural features of the Kauri wood I work on by hand and provide permanently for a special charisma of the Kauri wood tables, especially the tables with a table top from a large root grown in one piece
• my surface coating hardens the table top and makes it resistant to moisture, making each wooden table particularly robust and durable and suitable for a busy dining table
• the solid table tops are about 7 cm thick, so they can be restored and moved in new condition in the next generations if necessary

A high quality standard and since my Kauri wooden tables are not mass produced but custom made according to the wishes of the customer are further criteria for an alternative and high quality tangible asset investment with inflation protection fulfilled. The uniqueness of furniture is an important point for a valuable tangible asset and capital investment.

Unique wooden table one of a kind

Each Kauri wooden table made by me is exclusive, a limited one-off and unique. This I mark with a Unikat Sigel where each wooden table gets its own number. The natural growth of each table top is so different that Kauri tables can not be compared with each other. Each Kauri wooden table is absolutely unique and is unique in the world.

Exclusive dining table as an investment in kind

Each table top is grown in one piece partially replicates the kauri tree. The grain of the table top from tree trunk or root goes through the entire surface in one piece. The naturally grown openings I fill with crystal clear epoxy resin and thus emphasize the extraordinary natural character of the kauri wood.

This exclusive designer table I made according to the wishes of a customer from Luxembourg and now serves him as a dining table. The table top is verifiably 3700 years old and I documented with an age certificate that was issued by the Leibniz Laboratory for Age Research in Kiel for this table top. The size of the table top is 320 x 120 cm and was cut out entirely from a huge root.
