As a rule, table tops cut from a tree trunk have a calm appearance. Due to the decomposition at the ends after 47,000 years in the swamp, a special natural characteristic is created here. After consultation with the customer, we decided to leave them as they were and I filled them with epoxy resin to preserve them and keep them visible.
Originally, this corner of the table top was open, but I filled it with original remnants from the same tree trunk and filled it with epoxy resin. I modeled the edges after the naturally grown edges of the tree to create a harmonious transition between the epoxy resin and the edge of the tree. The transparent resin creates an interesting three-dimensionality and a special eye-catcher.
This is what the corner looked like during processing. The loose kauri remnants still protrude from the tabletop.
The table top has a beautiful even growth in the middle. The other end also clearly shows traces of decomposition, which could be preserved with epoxy resin and thus contains an extraordinary natural feature.
This unique table top also has its own uniqueness and stands out from other tree trunk tables. A tangible asset with a certificate and a unique selling point as protection against inflation.
These factors speak in favor of wooden tables made from thousand-year-old Kauri wood becoming tangible assets:
